Step 1: Install the Chrome Extension

The Quick Ping extension is available for free on the Chrome Web Store. Installing it takes less than a minute and requires no technical knowledge.

Installation Steps

  1. Open your Chrome browser and navigate to the Chrome Web Store

  2. In the search bar at the top left, type "Quick Ping Job Tracker" and press Enter

  3. Find the Quick Ping extension in the search results (look for our magnifying glass logo)

  4. Click the blue Add to Chrome button on the right side of the listing

  5. A confirmation popup will appear. Click Add Extension to confirm

Pro Tips

  • Pin the extension: After installing, click the puzzle piece icon in your Chrome toolbar, then click the pin icon next to Quick Ping. This keeps our icon visible for easy access.
  • Allow on all sites: When prompted, allow Quick Ping to run on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor for the best experience.
  • Check the icon: You should see the Quick Ping magnifying glass icon in your Chrome toolbar after installation.

βœ… Success Check: After installation, you should see the Quick Ping icon (a magnifying glass) in your Chrome toolbar. If you do not see it, click the puzzle piece icon and look for Quick Ping in the list.


Step 2: Connect Your Gmail Account

This is where Quick Ping becomes truly powerful. By connecting your Gmail account, Quick Ping can automatically detect companies you have already applied to. This means you will never accidentally apply to the same company twice, and you will always know your application history at a glance.

Connection Steps

  1. Click the Quick Ping icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the popup

  2. You will see a welcome screen with a prominent Connect Gmail button. Click it.

  3. A Google sign-in window will appear. Select the Gmail account you use for job applications.

  4. Review the permissions Quick Ping is requesting (read-only access to job-related emails)

  5. Click Allow to grant access

  6. You will be redirected back to Quick Ping with a success message

What You Will See

When you visit a job listing page on any of these platforms, Quick Ping automatically springs into action:

  1. The Quick Ping Panel: A floating panel appears on the right side of your screen showing the job queue and analysis results.

  2. Status Indicators: Each job listing gets a colored dot indicating whether you have applied before (green = new opportunity, yellow/red = previously applied).

  3. Company Insights: Click any job to see detailed company information, including size, industry, and your connection history.
